Johnsonville or Kroger selection on the grill. Got to have grilled onions, jalapenos and mustard on a bun.

Yes sir, those are good. I like the Fischer's brand from Gainesville as well. Every summer, I buy 2 packs of brats, simmer them in Shiner Bock, yellow onions, black pepper corns, and some fennel seed. I simmer for around an hour or so. Before I serve the brats, I take the beer onions and strain them off, I then toss the onions into a frying pan to caramelize. Basically becomes an onion jam for the brats. I do something similar, I poke small holes with a tooth pick into the brats so they soak up the beer mixture, also after simmering I brown them on the grill. Those Germans make some good brats

My wife has a recipe with kruat, diced apples, bacon and onions. After browning the brats she simmers them with the other stuff and it's stupid good.

best brats were when I was in Germany in late 70's in Ramstein, we'd get on the bus and head downtown and walk the 40 mark strauss, and hit all the brat carts,...both were great...I could only afford the brats.

I have a buddy that lives in La Crosse, WI. He works for a trucking company. On the rare occasions that one of his trucks is coming through, or near, Greenville he sends me some brats that are made by a local butcher.

Of course they were great, you were in Germany. AHAHAHAH Those street markets are the best! I had traveled to Germany for work several times and would be there for a few weeks at a time. I would visit those street markets and get fresh cheese, brats, breads, etc. then go get some wine and sit along the hillside or river and enjoy the scenery. Heck, often times, I would get extra and share with locals just to hang out and hear their stories of the city.
