Then I watch her play volleyball where she rocks it as a defensive specialist. She has me wrapped around her finger and knows it, but she only takes advantage of it to do fun stuff with Dad.

That’s cool that she still wants to hang out with you.

The one thing I did was have her fishing since in diapers. Started catching perch in the park, then slinging plastic at trout by six. Then duck hunting at ten. The love of outdoors is set so even at 26 she’s bugging to go. I do believe it was a large part of her being centered today.

Did not have many problems with my daughter in H.S. She knew she wanted to be a nurse so she worked HARD to keep her G.P.A. up and was on the drill team which also helped her grades as if they had problems with grades they could not be on the team.

My problems started in and after college. She met the man of her dreams and they got married right out of college (her not him). Cost me a bunch of money. I offered to give them cash if they had a smaller family wedding but she wanted the whole shebang, expensive dress, big wedding, fancy venue and all the other extras thrown in. Turns out the "man of her dreams" was really a deadbeat. Dropped out of college (found out later he was kicked out due to poor grades), got fired from his job and then told my daughter since she was making good money as a nurse at Parkland Burn Center he would hang out and play video games all day.

Luckily for me (and her) she had enough good sense to give him three weeks to find a job or she would leave which she did. So that big wedding and the marriage only lasted at most three months.

She then met another guy married him (I did not pay a dime for that one) and they had two sons together. After 12 years of marriage that ended in a divorce as well. I hope she has learned a lesson. I don't think so as she now has a live in boyfriend. If she gets married again I might not even attend. We'll see.

I raised 4 of 'em. Safest and best thing to say is, "That's nice.", and let it go. If it is too revealing or slutty, have a talk with mom. Don't listen to, "But everybody is wearing these." AND, her date will have to come into the house...days before, and meet you. Tell him how the cow eats the corn and she will be back at such and such a time. IF there is car trouble he will call you first, with the location. Period, zero if, ands, or buts.

The best dress down I got picking up a date was burned into permanent memory, so much so I used it when it was my turn.

Her curfew is 11:00. If she's not back at 11:00 boy, she's not in trouble, but I'm going to beat you into a grease spot. Are we clear?

It really wasn't necessary, she was/is a miniature tasmanian devil. She beat a BMW to a pulp that thought she was going to be easy to bully. Only time I got called to school. But that's another story for another day.

I had to have this conversation with the Mrs. The youngest is my step daughter, and I don't have any kids, so I've been raising her 3 as my own. When prom came and they went dress shopping, I had one request, please remember to keep it respectful as we'll be sending these photos to family members. She did great picking it out and actually found it at a second hand store. Saved us a ton, so I paid for the limo for her and her 6 friends.
