I remember that there was a lot of concern here when an Alabama fisheries biologist proposed a slot limit on the Coosa River lakes that would have shut down most tournaments. I didn't think it would pass when brought before the Conservation Advisory Board, but it didn't even make it before them. The state politicians have already killed it:

does anybody know of any lake that a slot limit helped the fishing?....they had one for years at Eufaula,west point and oconnee and it didn't do anything but make it hard to catch a keeper fish.....

I'm sure its helped some places but there are only a few lakes I fish in my area that have/had a slot for largemouth. I never noticed any difference in trophy quality compared to other lakes in the area that were the standard 14" minimum. So many bass fisherman are catch an release these days I'm not sure a slot make much difference now.
