My idea of roughing it is staying at a hotel without 24-hour room service.

It’s Texas; 90% of the time all you need is a sleeping bag, the ground, and stars in the sky.

Now that I’m a nearly old, I do enjoy the comfort of an air mattress and pillow with my sleeping bag.
Won’t bother pitching the tent, but sometimes when the wind blows, that happens all by itself.

I did it when I was in my 20's. Not so much as I am getting close to 70.

Slept in my truck 2 nights for a media championship at the red river. Funny thing is, when I woke up on Saturday 2 of the guys in the RV had moved out to their trucks to sleep as well, one of our good buddies can break the sound barrier with his snoring. roflmao

I've done the 5.5-hour drive to Ivie, get there at daybreak, fish till dark then drive home several times in the last few years. It's been a while since I've slept in my truck or the bed of my truck. I could for sure see it happening again though.

I remember those tent days too, and I miss that also-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

Last time was in my mid 50's and didn't particularly care for it then.

Now I'm so stove up it would be morning by the time I got up into the bed of my truck.

Many times in the late 80's early 90's at Fork. Mostly at Popes ramp. Woke up one night with some meth head trying to grab stuff out of my boat. I bet he shat his britches when I came outta the cab with a 9mm!

A stream I fished in WV had a good fairly flat trail on 1 side. We normally waded stream and camped on other side. 1 night there was a big rain storm and stream flooded. We had to hike out on rough side. It was cold and tops of trees had ice. Hiking out we found a hen turkey covered in ice on a high point on the trail. Fortunately the bridge was above water. Another time temps were in single digits. I slept with worms in my sleeping bag. Others put them by fire but fire went out and they had frozen worms. [Linked Image]
