Is the video of the Allison supposed to be impressive? It’s in slow motion.
I’ve never heard any brag about an Allison’s ability in rough water. I guess that’s why there are zero of them on truly big waters. Lake st Clair, Great Lakes, etc.
They are probably the best rough water bass boat built By what standard? If it just rough water ability all kinds of boats are good at that. The Allison had a horrible layout, no way they are the “best” rough water boat. All that guy was doing was keeping the nose pointed to the moon, anyone can do that.. Lol. Who said anything about layout. If you have never been in one then you have no clue about the ride

My BassCat Cougar got me through Some pretty rough water. Now that I'm retired and have quit fishing tournaments, I'm a fair-weather boater/fisherman. If it's blowing more than 20 MPH, raining or snowing or just plain cold I'm not going out.

I feel like I’ve read a lot of discussion about good rough water rides and I’ve never heard Allison rise to the top of the discussion. Ever.

Seems like there aren’t very many of them out there for a reason. Haha. They are strange. But….they are a very well made boat with a lot of attention spent on saving weight and going fast. Maybe they makes them good in rough water, I don’t see how. I doubt it makes for a great fishing platform as well. But….if fun between fishing holes is high up on the list, I bet it would check that box with room to spare.

Those striper guide boats on Lake Texoma seem to fair well in rough water. Maybe there is something to having the steering and console on the bow. Haha.

Are you talking about like a blazer bay center console that has the wheel way up front? Or are you talking about the goofy Alison boats with the extra row of seating?

... I had a chance at a brand new one 4 years ago. Boat and trailer only. $45k. I should have bought it. Dang!!!... I priced them in 2018 before I bought my 21XRS and the only two new ones I could find were each $76k boat and trailer... Looking at the website the "cheapest" now is $69,500 boat and trailer... Seems like there aren’t very many of them out there for a reason. Haha. The reason is they're not for everyone and they cost a pretty penny... They're a stable fishing platform, 9' long front deck, with a ton of storage and a very fuel efficient hull that performs well with any outboard between 225 to 300 HP... And I've seen them on both Lake St. Clair and Erie... Dan

The only Allison’s I’ve ever seen was a pack of them on a lake one day, it was calm, they weren’t fishing, they were flying around like race cars.
I could care less about speed, personally, I’ve caught my biggest and best fish out of a dinky tin boat.

I very well could be wrong but I am not buying that an Allison is the best rough water boat out there, I will agree that they are a very well built boat.

Never seen one up close, touched or ridden in one??? That's the norm when it comes to guys opinions of Bullet's, Allison's and Stroker's... One day, or a buddy of a buddy says... You're close to Mallards Marine maybe give Trace a call and visit the next time he has an Allison in stock... Dan

Sorry Dan, I’m not sipping on that kool aid. Bullet, stroker, and Allison build nice boats. Not nice fishing boats.
Money isn’t the only reason these brands are barely being produced.

Here is a video I took back in 2001. Got stuck in Silver lake marina from an unexpected high wind front that blew in. There is a very important message in this video. At the 2:12 mark I accidentally pulled the killswitch. Know your boat, and know where to go first if there is a problem. Then goto 3:53 and watch the video looking backwards. It was a finesse boat ride working thru the waves in a 18'6" champion 1989 boat. If you look at the video at the 1 minute mark you can see my fishing buddy in a 20ft champiion, he just raised the nose up and worked thru the waves to travel to Scotts Marina where we both launched. Every boat has it's own little quirks that you learn over time. I have crossed many lakes in high winds, as going across high waves is not as difficult. But when it's blowing and waves are in this type of class I will not go out in it. I only had to go about a quarter mile, and stayed close to the bank where it was a little more protected.
