What happened to your YouTube channel? I really enjoyed watching them. Will they ever show up again?

I assume you're talking about William Tedrick (Hook-Line&Sinker). He got a computer virus and lost everything. I don't think he will get them back.

Hello, I went to the main lake today and caught some white bass. From the outside, they looked like typical white bass, but when I checked the tongue, I noticed two lines in the middle. They were also full of eggs. Does anyone know if these were actually white bass or hybrids? From what I know, hybrids do not produce eggs. Please advise. Thank you

They were also full of eggs. Does anyone know if these were actually white bass or hybrids? From what I know, hybrids do not produce eggs. Please advise. Thank you Hybrid stripers both male and female are not sterile. The female hybrid does not produce a viable egg but the male hybrid spawns along with all the whitebass. This results in a few 2nd gen whitebass that have a small portion of striper and often really strange stripes and dashes. Lake Somerville has been stocked with hybrids since the 70's and crossback spawning is present. It does make identifying a 2nd gen hybrid a little tricky. If it is really big like in the 17 inch range it is probably a hybrid.

In this video towards the end (19:30 & 34:10) I catch the weirdest looking whitebass. It had dashes all down the body and no stripes. I suspect this is a crossback to a hybrid striper making it less striper and more whitebass.

Very interesting! I have never heard/read this before! In a long series of discussions with TPWD scientists, they did say they had had trouble with their success in raising more hybrids. And that has interfered with their stocking efforts on-and-off for years. North Texas lakes are low on the list, lower, than Somerville for example. The numbers for 2024 are staggering when compared to many lakes - 200,255. I'll be doing the Round Top show later this month, and there off-and-on for about a dozen days ... and ... Somerville is in range! Like that lake a LOT. Haven't been there since about '21 and I STRUCK OUT that time. Time for a rematch.

Looks like I spoke too soon ... checking those stocking numbers and will add them up. Maybe those reports helped? Yeah, naaa.

Well fellow anglers, what's the status of lake Somerville and the feeding surrounding creeks? Had any of this sprinkle of rain helped the run? Or is this season a wash?

This season is a wash for creek spawning
