Taking my dad to Lake Conroe later this week and we've never been there. Any tips would be very much appreciated!
Thanks Lunkerstalkers!

It’s really hit or miss for me. When it’s on, it’s on. When it’s off, it sucks. If the weather is nice, you’ll be swamped by wake boats and jet skis by 10am on the weekends. It’s an awesome lake though, big fish in it. I’d suggest fishing mostly above the 1097 bridge. Go up into the creek where Stowaway Marina is. Nice water back there and good fishing usually. It also has the little bit of grass left in the lake. But really, fishing is good everywhere. Running a square bill around all the docks/bulkheads isn’t a bad idea. Whole lake south of 1097 is pretty much safe to run. There are some shallow spots/sandbars to watch out for here and there, but if you have a decent chart plotter you’ll see them on there. North of 1097 and above the Stowaway Marina creek, it’s full of stumps. There is a channel to run through there but I wouldn’t attempt it without following someone that knows what they’re doing. See map in attached link Put in at the FM830 public ramp and deal with the idiots, or pay $20 at a marina and still deal with the idiots, just on a lesser scale. https://conroebass.com/boating-hazard-map

Launch at Scotts Ridge, Cagle or Stowaway.

Go watch the BPT/MLF event videos, then look for a large number of boats, you will know exactly where they fished!
I agree with pchapin, Scott's Ridge, Cagle of Stowaway.
Good luck.

.....you could have a heck of a full day behind Stowaway at the moment.
If you got bored, zip across and go play in Peach creek for a while. If you do, start to idle 75 yards before the mouth.

Welcome to a great fishing lake. Don’t be in a hurry to run once the wake boats and pontoons are out as the waves will be from every direction like a washing machine in any open areas. I live on the south end of the lake and the fishing has turned on and is getting better by the day. Don’t be scared to go to back 1/3 of creeks and pockets and fish slow if you don’t get bit right off. This also gets you away from the waves. The fish are moving back to spawn and warm up. Haven’t been catching them myself on docks, it has been open sections along the bulkheads and edges of the grass in less than 4 feet. My go to is a short C rig fluke right now and let it sit after the weight pulls through the grass stubble. A lot of the developed area grass is really short as it was sprayed by the river authority. Good luck!
