I would like to catch some sandbass/whites and have been looking and trying on Grapevine. I would try Arlington also.

Can anyone help me find a few fish? I have been taking my kiddo and he doesnt want to go anymore because we do not catch anything. I have a boat and have been using RSR slabs. I just do not know how to find them. I have a hammer box and stuff too. Thanks in advance.

Right now Sandie fishing in gv will be tough unless you fish around for the lake spawners. Main lake points on the South side with rocks, small gravel banks, etc. (5-12ft) if the bank is clay keep going. You will be using crankbaits for best results. The top of the hump west of Meadomere Park which is out in the main lake should hold fish. Right now it should be at about 5ft on top, and is good gravel. I would cover points with a 3xd and make sure you are bumping. The shallow hump is marked by a buoy, and should be on your map for the lake. I'll add a screenshot of it's general location. But all the fun is typically up in the creeks, but the big girls didn't go up until late. Everything up in the creeks will be small males. The lake spawners are another story, these females are big. Still early for good fish in the creeks, but you can have fun with numbers. You really need to hold out until about June & July for the kids. Keep an eye on the grapevine thread during that time. Instant message me and I'll help you get them on some sandies when it's all lake fun. Right now I'm fishing for bass, so i won't mess with the sandbass on gv.

BMX Catfish. Click on prosise name and go look at his old posts. He has threads on fishing grapevine one a year for the last 4 or so years... in those he gives reports and spots, how he found them, where he found, the baits etc. You can read through and follow the season as it changes. His updates were/are pretty regular.

Those same spots and tactics will still apply (for the most part). Its like a bible on fishing Grapevine for sandies. And he even includes GPS cords to many many spots.

He is a great guy and has shared a ton of info over the years... Looking forward to the 2025 thread! I add stuff when I have something to add, but prosise is the man!

One of the usual suspects texted me this afternoon.

Usual suspect ---
I been fishing grapevine ones or twice a week. Big female sandies are always in different locations. Today I found big female sandies in 47 ft deep. I been using two crappie jigs on one pole and other small slab with crappie jig above it. Caught limit today.

Thank you so so so much for the information.

So a slab is not good right now? I went alone very end of January and caught 5 or so good ones by the rock crusher with the slab. They were nowhere to be found last weekend there.

What color 3XD? I am guessing a shad color?

I do not care on the size, I just want to catch some of these.

I also thought up around Murrell Park and Rockledge Park both in some 20-40' water to see if i could thump some into the area and fish with a slab.

If you were going on Sunday this week with some shad colored 3XD and some RSR slabs, would the Meadowmere and Murrell and Rockledge likely be able to get me a few fish?

Again, thank you so much for the information.

I think I know where that shallow spot is you screenshot for me. That cove usually is full of boats in the summer with wakesurf.

Grapevine has always been a pure white lake for me. Pure white slabs, pure white tandem 1/16oz marabou jigs, pure white 2" swim baits, etc. I have caught sandies on chartreuse, but nowhere near the numbers I have caught on pure white.

i think they are piling up in the creek, on the South part of Lake A right now
the creek runs under I-20 & you can launch at Bowman Springs Park

Lake Grapevine did not give up any secrets Monday. From 2 till 7 I did not land a fish.
Tried all of my usual spots and then some, on the upper end of the lake (west of Meadowmere). North side, South side. Threw slabs, crank baits, humdingers, in-line spinners.
I worked water from 5 ft to 32 ft. Zero!
Water was 52 to 54 degrees.
Hooked a monster cat but it pulled off after a few minutes of a fight.
I'm going back Wednesday morning since I am glutton for punishment. Taking three 13 year old boys.
