From what I understand, couriers are like a 3rd party lottery ticket purchaser. They take online orders and purchase tickets, sometimes in bulk from a retailers. Somehow this has resulted in them winning a disproportionate number of winning jackpot tickets. I don’t know exactly how it works but I’m thinking they have a algorithm set up to pick numbers so that duplicate(or close to duplicate) tickets aren’t repeated therefore increasing the odds of a winning jackpot ticket. It all seems legit, but shady. Most likely just someone who was smart enough to develop a program to game the system. Just my

Someone give me the cliff notes on what is alleged to have been going on. When the lotto jackpot reached 85 million an online ticket purchasing company were reported to have bought some 25 million tickets. Since the odds are around 26 million to 1 they were almost sure to win and double their investment, Was it a gamble or an investment? Was it a crime or just unethical?

They could have just added another number or 2 and then the odds would be astronomical.

It’s wasn’t criminal or unethical. The lottery in itself is borderline unethical but that’s a whole other discussion.

They could have just added another number or 2 and then the odds would be astronomical. This is why powerball and mega millions don’t work as an investment as the odds are like 350 million to one not even when the jackpot is 1 billion dollars.

The fact that rhe lotto commission added the online purchasing of tickets which allowed this to happen is unethical.
If they(people running lotto commission) are not smart enough to realize that this could happen, then it proves how incompetent they are..
But now they want casinos, when the state can't even regulate the bandits in the gas stations.

At least we now have all our roads fixed and the schools are all paid for.

You’ll never have enough money for schools or roads. You get money and they build more, never enough to maintain…
