Not To Big Or Small-Depending On What You're Targeting. Right?



To start with if You're new to fishing & want to purchase the right size reel for what you have in mind i made this video just for you. So what size will you need? Will it be for fresh or saltwater?

First know your reel sizes. The most basic is 1000, 2000, 3000, etc. And a few companies produce 10, 20, 30's as well. Manufacturers like Okuma, Shimano, Daiwa, Penn uses sizes like 1,000 & 500's. Some like Pflueger goes by increments of 10 like 10, 20, 30, etc. There's currently no industry standard. A 10 could be 1000 & a 20 2000. Also this is very important. Smaller sized reels have smaller to thinner cut gearing designed for finessing smaller sized fish. Using a smaller reel for larger more powerful fish will damage the internal gearing & the smaller spool won't hold the needed line for a powerful run.

Now that you're aware of this base your size needs off a 2000 or a 3000 sized spinner. Also referred as a 2K or a 20 size & a 3K or a 30. There's also the extremely popular 2500 or a 25 size. Beginning to catch on now? The 3 most popular spinner sizes seem to the the 20, 25 & 30. After making your reel choice(s) you'll need a "S" Class rod. S is for Spinning & C is for casting. Also the size of your reel will determine the length & strength of your rod. I'll end it here as i don't want to scare the beginners off. Baby steps. Remember that. Get the reel first. Then the right rod followed by the correct type of line & line strength.
