The "movement to ban" the play is really just a bunch of complaining about unfairness from teams that failed to defend or successfully run the tush push play themselves.
The reality is that it takes an incredible amount of grit, toughness, strength and coordination for an offensive line to get that sort of push off the line. It is not some sort of fluke or accident that the Eagles are so good at this play. They obviously put a tremendous amount of work into it.
The two main complaints against the tush push play are assisting the runner, and player safety. Both arguments are weak tea BS. The running back pushing the QB from behind is the least important factor of the play. The play is made by the linemen. And player safety... really, how it is different than any other play? Do linemen not line up against each other every single down, and try to push the other guy backwards? Does a runner not try to run in between those linemen on every single running play? Lineman are definitely a big part of it, but so is a QB that can squat 600 lbs like Hurts. That part of the equation seems like it gets overlooked.
You are not a good or nice person.

Every other team can run the same play. Some teams do. None of the other teams are good at it, and that’s why there is clamoring for it to be banned every year. With the Eagles offensive line, a normal QB sneak or similar running play would still be effective.

Yeah, I’d say if you remove the RB pushing from behind, it probably wouldn’t change a single one of the conversions the Eagles made on this play. And Mark C you are absolutely correct, a 600 lb squatting quarterback is a big part of the success. In fact, look at the second best team using the tush push play… Buffalo. Josh Allen probably doesn’t squat 600, but he is a beast.

I thought you could not bush a ball carrier forward from behind. At 1 time you could not. I have no idea when it changed.

The NFL and CFL continued with the foul as 10 yards. In 2005, the National Football League made the penalty only for pulling and carrying, removing the flag in cases of pushing.

Totally against pushing the ball carrier, plus they let the play go on for seconds, once carrier motion stopped the whistle should blow

This all got started with the bush push.
It should all be outlawed, it gives an unfair advantage to the offense unless the defense gambles and wins.

Buffalo tried it several times against the Chiefs and had little to no success. The Eagles are the only team that seems to be able to rely on it.

I think they invested in training by some rugby coach. They have the inside scoop. Smart of them. It seems nearly unstoppable, so long as everyone is disciplined.
