If a local or regional angler failed a polygraph test, got disqualified, and then quickly quit while making a vague statement afterward, would they be seen as a "mistreated participant" or as someone who broke the rules and potentially cheated?

They probably wouldn't make it out of the boat ramp with their life. Wouldn't have to worry about anything else.

They would be a cheater, just like Herron.

If they break the rules they’ve cheated. It isn’t potentially cheated.

Herion's supporters are trying to somehow shift focus on issues within the industry and the trail and off the fact he had a rule infraction and that in doing so he actually was cheating.

It's funny the double standard that exists when some people side with an stagnant guy. Others that have broken the same type of rules have been tar and feathered on here.

I think it all depends on the circumstances and how it was communicated to the field.

There’s a difference in cheating and breaking a rule .

If you fail a polygraph I don't think it will matter what you failed. If folks are still there it's not going to be good. lol

If I factually knew all the details and cheating was proven then I'd look at them like a cheater. By the same token I'd have a hard time fishing against a guy that has had a lot of multiple rules infractions including DQ in a short amount of time.

In the court of TFF they would be absolutely roasted, treated as if they had a limit of fish in a basket.

Most local circuits have rules that if you have been DQ'd for failing a polygraph that you are ineligible to fish the circuit. These are tournaments that may only pay around $1,000.00 for a win. However, pro's fishing for 6 figures can have been DQ'd for failing a polygraph and they are still be eligible to fish at the top level. This seems kind of backwards to me.

I concur. He touts being a "seasoned veteran" and he must of have understood that being told pertinent info during an off limits period and then not reporting it to the TD could have not been within the rules.

It will be interesting if the entire story is told to the public.

He thad threatened to not show up for the classic this year, wonder if he will show?

Interesting observation I made last year.

In all other sports “cheating” is expected. You break a rule you are penalized from a few yards, turn over, maybe you have to sit out a game etc. but it’s expected of the players.

Fishing….. get the hot tar.

Not saying it’s right or wrong just an observation.

I do t know much of golf or tennis maybe not in those

That’s different to me. Holding in football is like not wearing your life jacket.

Cheaters are cheaters whether it’s in fishing or football. When you are hacking in to listen to what the other coaches are saying on their headsets, when you are knowingly taking PEDs, that’s cheating. It’s different, and people’s reputations change because of it. Ask mark mcguire or lance armstrong.
