Supposedly, this system's supposed to make landfall sometime tomorrow. I'm thinking about a day trip to POC on Sunday. Anyone have any thoughts on what effect this thing might have on the bay and flats fishing around there?

Yeah, that's kinda what I'm hoping for. I'm hoping to slip into ESB with some live croaker, maybe throw a spoon or two. I hear they've been knockin' em dead in the surf lately, but I can imagine might still be a little rough out there Sunday...

Well, I hope so. I did take a look at POC's website - there's a little tournament going on there Friday and Saturday - hope the area's cleared out a little by Sunday morning.

But then you know how POC is on the weekends... A little like public golf on the weekends... Can't stir 'em with a stick! laugh

I wouldnt plan a fishing trip this weekend. The winds will have everything too chopped up. Water clarity will be all stirred up and you will be fighting the wind. I live on Padre Island and the wind has already picked up. Real bummer, we had just started to get a real calm streak and the water was finally clearing up after all that rain runoff.

Local reports are forcasting a 30 mph wind, which isnt uncommon but I still dont fish when the winds are like that, and seas are going to be between 4-9 feet for the next couple of days. With a 9 ft sea the surf will get to be about head high which makes for hard surf fishing. Also, 90% chance of rain for Friday.

Its nothing to get worked up over but I just think that the conditions will be a little too rough to plan a trip. I have written off fishing for the rest of the week and I live on the island. However, got my surfboard ready. You have to have a plan B.

We used to run toward the beach to fish the surf for bull reds when a storm was approaching. Now they shut down the piers and leave you to your own devices. As long as it doesn't get too nasty, I'd sure give it a shot.

I am in South Padre right now and the Surf is Sweeet!

We were at the tip of the Jetties today fishing for macks and man o' man it was sweet!

Beaches are still open, as we just got back from shooting clays about 8 miles down from Beach access #6.

Gonna be BAD [censored] tomorrow if this thing turns hostile!

Were you shooting clays on the beach or is there a range down there? I've only been to SPI once so I don't know it all that well

Things arent going to get that bad were they will shut down the beaches. Especially in SPI. Surf got 15 to 20 ft there during Rita and Katrina and the beaches were wide open. We Surfers wont allow them to close with surf like that. If you dont believe me on the size, check out the hurricane pictures at www.spadre.com . It will blow your minds. Look for the icon that says biggest wave ever ridden in texas or hurrican surf. The pics by becky mcCorrmick arnt the good ones but still impressive.

We shoot clays on the beach.. It's pretty much a do all do everything beach. Nude bathing, fireworks, camping, guns.. etc.

The wind made it a pain to throw the clays.

On Friday, depending on the weather we are going to take our 308's and .338 out for some long range plinking.

Anyways, we are going to Dirty Al's for some poppers and beers, later!
