Sounds to me like Herring has been DQ'd for the exact same rule violation that Jaden Parish was only fined for violating at the Open at Sam Rayburn. Does BASS have a problem with consistency?

As the world turns….his excuse is lame. Anyone that been in business knows what to do in these situations. I was in an industry that fought off legal accusations of price fixing . We had a spill the glass of water policy. When a conversation begins to steer towards a gray area- and he knows discussing fishing in that body of water is against the rules, you are supposed to “spill a glass of water” do something that everyone present remembers you did to stop the conversation.

That’s a good question…have they had a tournament yet this year that that didn’t end up in a DQ for breaking rules or someone having to withdraw themselves or pay fines for cheating. Maybe bass should just post a cheating fine menu then the anglers could choose if it would be a good investment if they didn’t get caught. I’m not sure what this is now, but this ain’t Ray Scott’s BASS.

here's is statement from Matt's son Josh about what caused matt to be disqualified.....BASS needs to take a hard look at their rules regarding obtaining info about a lake.....

He never went there to look and went right back and put in at Astor the next day. I have fished opens and understand off limits periods but we talk fishing daily and I just wasn’t thinking when I said it. Polygraph examiner asked if he had received any information and told them I had said it on accident but never went in that direction(70 miles the exact opposite is where he went in practice and the tournament). That flagged it as soliciting for information and dq’d him. The rule states soliciting while trying to gain a competitive advantage so I don’t understand how mistakenly being told something and not pursuing the information or using it for any gains can fall into a disqualification. ... I’m not sure what this is now, but this ain’t Ray Scott’s BASS. With the technology it'll never be Ray Scott's BASS ever again... Heck when Ray sold BASS the internet and cell phone didn't exist... It would have been almost impossible to find out what the pattern was the week before your tournament unless you were there talking or fishing back then... I don't know what the answer is... But unless these organizations are gonna hire a team of private investigators or poly half the field, the no info rule is ridiculous... Dan

Killed a lot more fish, had boats that leak oil worse than the Valdez… yeah the good ole days everyone remembers so fondly…

Was Herren part of the old guys that basically accused a lot of the younger guys of "cheating" and getting info??

Was Herren part of the old guys that basically accused a lot of the younger guys of "cheating" and getting info?? Herren is one of the guys that is still fishing in 1995. Not long ago I heard him bragging about how he works really hard for his sponsors by being the first one to arrive at the trade show, and the last to leave… I’m not saying shows are completely dead, but theyre pretty much dead.

Based on Herren's wife's post, he just tore all B.A.S.S. logos off his boat. I imagine he's headed to NPFL.
