Not for the faint of heart, and this one doesn’t even have the cooler assembly to remove on the trans. That being said it was still better than paying a shop $800-$1000 to do it. The fluid was cooked at about 50k and the filter was dirty. Not too much sign of internal wear, but that fluid was gross. Should’ve done it at 30k. Sprung for a new gasket, got a Baldwin filter and ulv fluid on rock auto in total about $150. If you have one and want to service it, budget a full day to get it done. Might want to consider putting some cardboard or plastic down too because you will spill fluid.

When I owned F150s I changed trans fluid every 30k. At first change I installed a drain plug on the pan. This made dropping the pan a whole lot less messy.

Dorman has a pan that’s oe fit and function, but has a drain plug. Should’ve sprung for that, but didn’t think about it this time. Did diffs and t case at 30k and they were nasty too but just off trans because I knew it would be a mess, that being said glad I did it. I usually do everything drivetrain (except engine) every 30k, but just got behind schedule.

I took my 2018 F150 to 5 Star Ford in North Richland Hills, that service cost me $400 at 70,000 miles

I find it hard to believe a pan drop and filter change only cost $400 because the filter and the fluid alone are over $230 at the dealer. I’d be shocked if the book time is only an hour on that job. I got a shop quote that was close to $800.
