What say the OT? This excludes any religious figures such as Jesus. I don't want this to turn into another religious argument thread.
I spent my lunch break waffling back and forth on this. I stared with Mao, then came up with better arguments for Stalin, but finally settled on...

Julius Cesar ..
He used the army for a reorganization of the State, forming the basis for abolishing its republican institutions but, at the same time, laying the foundations for a Roman Empire, extending from England deep into the Middle East, that lasted four centuries.
and he tosses a very tasty salad.

I wound up choosing Truman.
-Held a monopoly on nuclear weapons from 1945 to 1949, and USED them. -Could have unilaterally decided to use nuclear force against any adversary without opposition. -Commander of the World's Strongest Military at its absolute peak in dominance. -Had a Democratic majority in Congress (1945–1947, 1949–1951). -Passed the Marshall Plan and Truman Doctrine with legislative backing, shaping global geopolitics. -Strengthened the presidency by expanding executive authority in both foreign and domestic affairs. -Established NATO, creating the most powerful military alliance in history. -Led the world's largest economy at a time when the U.S. produced nearly half of global GDP. -Controlled immense resources, dictating post-war reconstruction and financial systems. -His decisions directly shaped the balance of power for the rest of the 20th century.
No other leader before or since has had such immediate, absolute, and world-altering power at their fingertips.
Mao had absolute control over a billion people, but little if any real power beyond his own boarders Stalin had absolute power, and Nukes, but no real ability to deliver them against his primary adversaries Any person from ancient history had several limitations due to distance and travel. Kahn controlled a lot of land, but he had no real ability to influence people in real time thousands of miles away.

Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

Kahn also had no technological superiority, no economic superiority, most of his power was delegated to generals and local rulers. He was constantly playing a game of whack-a-mole with uprisings and rivals. Truman had no real rivals until the soviets got nukes in 1949.

Which I'm surprised is not on the list, and who would have won hands down. I voted Khan as well. His domination and ability to conquer and still have people follow him is unwavering.

The instructions clearly state to excluded religious figures, so we don't wind up in ANOTHER debate on religion thread... which is sure to happen now in 3... 2... 1...
