Just mowed for the first time of the season. Damn rye grass and Henbit is bad this year. I thought the big freeze would kill it but I think it liked it!  Rye grass and Henbit are winter annuals. The freeze isn’t gonna help you much there. Pre emerge in the fall will be your friend. Msma...... Can you even get MSMA anymore? I thought they stopped making it years ago due to environmental issues. Although I have not really looked for it in some time.

Yup. Sprayed 5 yards today with 4wheeler. Dang henbit is tough. Nuff roundup will kill it for a while.

Speaking of weeds... should we kill'em now? I got a yard full of them. A yard guy told me I could hit them with RoundUp and not hurt my St. Augustine, since it is dormant... Not sure I want to do that.

I was out in the shop yesterday and the freakin gnats are around already. Dam gnats. I was brushing polyurethane to a new Red Oak cabinet this morning. Made the mistake of leaving the shop door open at first. I had done the 3 shelves and 4 doors already, went to the truck for some blue tape. Came back to at least 20 gnats commiting suicide by diving into the fresh poly. Last warm spell I saw 2 skeeters on back door. Worse then gnats. Just 1 of the cons of having an aerobic septic system. I have seen videos on social media with landscape guys telling people to scalp yards now. I view scalping as a waste of time. I got the lawn tractor out a few days ago to hit my fence line and knock down some henbit. Only advantage I see to scalping is it makes it easier to see the land mines.

Yep, All kinds of wildlife on that place Saw a Mt Lion there last October, full of deer and yotes and bobcats and tons of hawks. You can hunt on it with a gun or rifle, if you could get permission, September I heard a lot of dove hunting going on there first couple of weeks. It sure makes my area nice and quiet.
