Drunk smoking. It's a great unit.

Here's the deal DI, it was a $900 grill/smoker we got for $200, good buy. But it turned out to be a turd, the digital board on front went out in less than 6 months, had to run two different apps, had to plug it in, [censored] wheels and didn't cook very well, that being said some of the other guys love theirs, me and that SOB hated each other. In the end I don't think grilling/smoking should involve electricity and apps and digital boards, wood/fire/cook, keep it simple like we've done for thousands of years.

A person cannot go wrong keeping grilling or smoking simple. Everything that becomes complicated because of convenience turns to [censored] sooner or later.

I'll stick with my RecTeq. Had it like 7 years now and never an issue.

I got a 560 when they first came out. I put out some good food on it, but you get what you pay for. After about two years it was all but rusted out and the electric fan control only worked when it felt like it.

Was it a chore putting it together?

I'll answer-- yes. It was a chore. It wouldn't stop me from buying it again but I wouldn't look forward to it.

Like most sub $1000 grills, they are cheap POS. It does a fine job of cooking and I like it better than my PitBoss. I bought mine from Costco on sale 3-400. I wouldn't pay retail for it. I think that is too much for the quality you get. I do like the concept of gravity fed over pellets.

the 800 and 1050 are better quality than the 560. The new XL is supposed to be very good and fixed the issues with the older units.

Mine is a 900 (800 + pizza oven). The metal is very thin. There is a company that offers beefier (pun intended) parts you can upgrade with, but I'm not going to put another $200+ into it. It serves its purpose as an entry level smoker. Great concept and quality is low.
