Remote start will work for free for the first 12 months, then cost $12.00 per month to continue to work.

What subscriptions do you have on your new vehicles?

I would just have remote start added at an auto shop instead of paying a monthly charge.

The only thing my Tundra subscribes to is a LOT of gasoline.

Remote start, door lock/unlock, etc, from the app is $12. Remote start from the key fob is free.

When I bought my new F250 the salesman wanted my phone to add the Ford app so I could remote start my truck from Africa... Uhmmmm no... Waiting for them to bring my truck around when they ran it through the carwash the sales manager wanted to know it the salesman downloaded the the Ford app... I said nope... He then badered me for my phone, I told him NO!!!... I ain't that flucking lazy that I can't go to the window and hit remote start button twice on the key fob to start the truck... Four years later I think I've use the remote start, maybe twice... Dan

I think a simple no is OK to use when someone wants to sell you something you don't want.

I still have the 2020 Tundra and I don't know how the newer versions are working out but you can just say no to any extras, whether it be a Toyota, Ford, or Yugo

My Sonata came with something similar. I could do pretty much everything from the app on my phone...free for 3 years. Now it's $300/year for 3 different options. I think to just have remote start is $99/yr. But there's a lot more, but I ain't paying for it. I loved having it the first 3 years, but it wasn't that amazing.

Proper protocol is to only start the vehicle after checking the rear view, side view mirrors, and engaging the seatbelt.
Remote start is like running the big motor without a PFD on and lanyard attached to the disengage switch.
Not protocol and I would never use it.

Without proper repeatable order of operation there is chaos and an invitation for problems.
Always follow the preflight check list.

In another 3-4 years, you'll need a subscription to start your car. I'd be surprised if they didn't already have the ability to remotely brick your vehicle.

2018 F-150. Love my remote start and heated seats. No app required. My navigation stopped giving traffic info at the 5 year mark and Sirius wants $5.99 a month…nope!

And you won't have an oil dipstick so without a scanner you won't be able to check your oil and do your own oil changes.
