To Tray McKinney, JT Tompkins, and Tyler Williams in the Bassmaster tournament this week? Aren’t most of the fish out in the middle of the lake?

lol, better question might be “what happened to these “seasoned” pros”? Steve Kennedy, Paul Mueller and Randy Howell have been fishing Florida for decades.

EDIT: we’ll have to go deeper into the season to see if this new “no info” rule works or if they picked lakes that are harder to scope for the ‘yutes.

I believe McKinney may have gotten a little time in the penalty box again. I think they said he ran the same no wake zone that he did last year.

I bet he's gonna find himself on the outside looking in if he doesn't knock off the extracurricular BS. He's had more incidents in the past 12 months than most havein and entire career.

Steve Kennedy had mechanical problems the first day and didn't make it back on time... Zeroed... It's Florida and those bass don't like cold fronts so I'm sure it played a factor... No one is blowing the doors off by Florida, early spring, spawning standards... Dan

BASS is a business, until McKinney does not attract eyes and dollars, he will be fishing the elites.

This is bass fishing, not anything really important. It's a hobby on roids where historically more have gone broke than have been successful.

The bottom line is money, period. Not "honor, integrity or honesty", it's 100% money and that will always trump the right thing to do.

Fishing tournaments is gambling, period. That is why so many degenerates, who have sketchy pasts, participate all over the nation.

KVD, Palaniuk and Hackney all bring/brought eyes and dollars to BASS but all 3 had a DQ of some sort. McKinney isn't near the draw that they are even right now.

Hopefully he settles in and has a great career. He is extremely talented.

Those people attract the 30+ yr old crowd of mostly caucasian men who work and buy tackle on a budget. People like McKinney attract 12-25 yr old kids who many of whom have parents wit h ample disposable income to spend on fishing equipment, boats and gear of all kinds. Kids in touch with modern tech are a lot more valuable then old slack liners like us and they have a whole life time to purchase equipment. You can buy a sonar with 2D and GPS for $300, a set up for FFS is $3-4K. Old white shoed soakers on SS are not the future and spend a lot less than little Johnies parents with 2 six fig incomes.

If you were trying to sell sponsors on which crowd will spend more money, which would it be? From a marketing standpoint I would take the youngsters every time.

Just my opinion. BASS would trade most of the mid pack olds for edgy 19 year olds any day and twice on Sunday.
