Please fill me in on this. I have never heard of such a thing. Are you going to eat them? The only thing I have ever done is tape a flashlight to a pellet rifle and pop them at night.
Be safe, Rayzor ![[Linked Image]](http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/pp267/JLedbetter/th_Boatpics036.jpg) 2001 Triton Tx-21/225 Mercury EFI

LOL, dangle a fly in front of them and they'll eat it. Used to catch 'em like that when we were kids. Works best at dusk, if my memory's correct. They used to say a small piece of red ribbon or yarn just above the fly is better; don't recall if it was or not.

Reminds me of a funny story. Back in the day "frogging" was big sport; you'd wade with a light and hand grab 'em. When Randy Dearman was trying to break into fulltime guiding, he did a few shows with Denver Wathen (Freshwater Fishing, Texas Style). Randy was terrified of snakes. He and Denver filmed a show about frogging up on Livingston; they prowled the banks in a jon boat with a spotlight, and Randy would get out and wade to the bullfrogs and grab them. The night it aired he told us to count his steps to the frog, then back to the boat. He spotted one and got out while Denver held the light. Eleven steps to the log it was on. Just as he reached for the frog, a snake popped its head up behind the log. Three fast and frogless giant steps back into the boat. Randy swore the next day it was a cottonmouth; you couldn't tell in the show. I still get a giggle out of that one. And now I'm hungry for a mess of frog legs............

I caught many of them with a small pooper on ponds in Oklahoma when I was a kid. I haven’t seen many bullfrogs lately and don’t have a good location to catch them. They often do well in smaller waterbodies with vegetation that do not contain many large predatory fish that eat the tadpoles.

If you can find a flood control tank to get access to that would be my first place to try. I use to have a 20+ acre control tank that I use to access to that was loaded with them. Buddy and I would go and get a mess of them about twice a year for a good leg fry. Bait caster small red worm with light weigh was our go to gear.

We always used a flashlight and gigged them either walking the bank or poling a john boat. We filled several croaker sacks every time we went out. One thing I remember most was the skeeters they were hungry mothers, also the gators. I just remembered where we were frogging. Cinco Ranch ZZ Top had a line in one of their songs about it, could have been from Tres Hombres.

Agreed, they love a plastic worm on top of the Lilly pads!! It's fun to watch them stalk a worm being twitched on top of a pad. Tight lines! PS They fight real well too..

They’ll eat nearly anything. Love frog gigging with a spotlight and a gig on a broomstick. I never started finding them until around june. Frog legs are tasty though. I’ve had them bite a plastic worm before.

Try a plastic worm and drag it across moss or lily pads. We used to do it all the time and had a blast. They take their front paws and quickly start stuffing them into both cheeks. It was hilarious! We would catch so many, we would bend the barb on our hooks down so we could easily release them unharmed. We weren’t keeping them, but sure was fun.
