Lone Star is a fun little lake to fish. It's open except for there is a point on the southwest side of the lake which comes pretty far out in the lake. The last time I was there, there was a marker buoy on the end of the point.

Also, there is a steel plant (which I think is now closed) which dumps hot water in the lake on the very southeast end of the lake. I was there (only one time) when they were dumping hot water into the lake in the spring and the bass fishing there was excellent!

Lots of docks to fish. There are lots of lily pads on the north end of the lake. I'm sure they are not there yet but there will be stems still there. There is a small island on the north part of the lake. The back side of this island there is some deeper water which at times I have done well there.

Forgot to mention, Caddo is just plain an awesome lake to fish because of the scenery if for no other reason. I caught my personal best bass there in 2006 (10.68) on a B.P.S. 5" Watermelon Red "Senko". Of course, it was the day before a club tournament which we did not do well at. lol_2

"Channel Markers," that's a good explanation of the lane on the upper end of Pines (above the 155 bridge) The boat lane follows the river channel, so it wimds througghVERY SHALLOW flats. The lane is marked with posts/arrows, BUT some of them are gone, or cut off at water level. Then, it just ends for about 2 or three miles before starting up again. I wouldn't "run" the lane, because it makes lots of tight turns. I'm not that experienced with it, so I stick to about moderate planing speed. There is another lane that starts on the upper end of the lake below the bridge. However, there is timber in the main lake on the way to that lane; if you don't know, idle.

Mid lake from alley creek to oak Valley is the tricky part . No need to run above 155.Just fish. I have run from the rock dam above 259 to Island view. Pre GPS. But that was in my younger days. roflmao

Thank y’all for the help! Looks like we’ll have some nice weather. Will probably stick to the south end of LOP rather than the north

Well we made it up here. Had some initial issues getting our room at Uncertain Inn that I’m not too happy about, but all is good and the room is nice. Lake looks beautiful!

Also, went ahead and hit a deer for the first time about a mile from Johnson’s Ranch. Was going about 25-30. Didn’t tear the truck up or nothing thank God.

Definitely an interesting atmosphere up here….. It’s already an experience to say the least. Lol

Caught two this morning on trees with a black/blue craw. I missed about 3. Couldn’t get them to hang on, don’t know what was going on.

Water is pretty nasty. Beautiful lake though

Tie on a spinner bait and catch some pike.

Is this Government Ditch? We ran up it until the first intersection. Can you keep running the whole thing? I’d like to fish around up in that forest area more, I just didn’t see any more boat lane markers at the first intersection so wasn’t sure. Ran the whole lake from Johnson’s all the way to the dam in LA though. Easy lake to get around really

Of course! Like the map I sent you shows and I said: “run Government Ditch from Uncertain to Big Cypress Bayou”. You could have gone way past the 1st intersection. (Always be cautious anywhere on Caddo that trails intersection!) There are no “boat lane markers” on Government Ditch because well the “lane” is quite obvious and straight as an arrow! 🤷🏻‍♂️There are actually a couple of other scenic, longer & windier trails up to Big Cypress Bayou but Government Ditch is the “man made shortcut”. If you went all the way to the dam down the lake from Uncertain the boat lanes are clearly marked and easy to run on plane(as you mention) and it’s beautiful down there but there is nothing like the scenery from Uncertain north/up running and idling the numerous boat trails up there! ! There is nothing quite like running Government Ditch either. [Linked Image]

Awesome, thank you! Yeah this morning we went all the way down Gov Ditch and took this trail up into Clinton Lake. Beautiful up in there. I was wondering where all those cool trails through forest were that I’ve seen on YouTube. Found em now!

Yesterday evening we dropped in at the public ramp on 43 and messed around on the bayou. Went by that restaurant that was mentioned earlier in this thread.

Fishing hasn’t been great but not getting skunked either. I caught two this morning around the Tar Island area, both around 2lbs. Ran up the big bayou on the LA side of the lake where all the oil rigs are. That was super cool! Going to try LOP in the morning

Glad y’all had fun. Glad you found your way and got to see some of that true northern end of Caddo scenery too. That Clinton Lake area seems like another world huh? Fishing can be a little intimidating when EVERYTHING looks so fishy, right?

Glad you enjoyed Caddo. Amazing fishing and scenery. Curious, how deep was Clinton Lake?

Just FYI. From Uncertain to Clinton Lake. You took the A-row, then Govt-Ditch(lime-green), then C-row(white), then R-row(yellow).

Another question for Caddo locals. From this screenshot.

What is the name of this white boat-row from Clinton Lake to the Big Cypress? The Caddo paper map I have named it C-row which I didn't understand.

And is navigable in a Bass boat?

[Linked Image]

I watched a very interesting Youtube video running it from the Big Cypress to the bridge over this row.
