Do you really see a big difference between a shimano SLX XT vs a curado K? I’m Curious. Thanks

Yes. Major difference.
The Curado is a lot smoother and more rigid reel. The SLX has flex in its frame where the Curado doesn't have near as much. The TranX has even less. I could never throw a frog with a SLX due to the amount of flex the frame has under heavy heavy load.
I can backlash toilet paper.

I know there's a lot of praise for the SLX but compared to the Curado it feels cheap.

I have a couple of Curados and a couple SLX. There is definitely a difference between the two. Just depends on what you are after.

I like the SLX, I have several but I am a neophyte at the game. They work for me. I was given an old Curado bantam that I fixed up and I do like it but I kinda like the low profile of the SLX. The Curado will definitely throw some line.

Just for clarification, the SLX and SLX XT are two very different reels. The XT has a beefed-up frame and does not flex. The regular SLX will if you are using it for high shock applications. I have quite a few XT's and Curado K's. About the only thing I haven't done with the XT is punch or frog mats. The only thing I use the Curado for is braid applications, throwing an A-rig, and C-rig. SLX XT gets the nod on everything else.

I also have two “tuned” Curado DC reels. Ceramic bearings and carbon handles. Those feel A LOT more connected to the rod and line. Casts about the same as the SLX DC. One thing I’ve never liked about the Shimano’s….they will cast 50 times perfectly, then BLOW UP for no reason. Not very confidence inspiring. My Steez and Tatula reels are very consistent and almost impossible to backlash when setup correctly.

Could not stand the sound it made. Like nails on a chalk board to me for some reason. I usually set the wind dial on the SLX XT's between 2-3 and have no backlash issues regardless of what I am throwing. Except for 1 of them that is 6-7 years old. It can get temperamental from time to time if I am throwing something too light in the wind. It squeals a little bit too. Hasn't kicked the bucket yet though.

I’ve owned Curados and really like my SLX XT. Super nice reel.
