Can anyone recommend a good crappie guide for Lake Lewisville. I have a couple of grandsons that live in Frisco and I would like to take them crappie fishing on Lake Lewisville. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

As a LONG time crappie guy I would suggest going just about anywhere else. Bois Darc is really good. Texoma is only an hour. Fork would be worth the 1.5 hours. Even Lavon would be 100x better. Lewisville isn't what it use to be for Crappie.

Ray Roberts is less than an hour from Frisco and it seems to have decent crappie fishing too. Maybe better than Lewisville?

I was going to say the same thing. Ray Roberts has several guides that you can connect with.

Dannie Golden (but I think he's more bass)

Would recommend going to pretty much anywhere else for crappie. Ray Roberts/lavon are good options in that area. Lewisville is in shambles compared to what it used to be crappie wise

Any idea why?

Like what happened? I agree with you just curious as to possible causes. Bad spawns? People taking too many fish? Is that even possible? Too many hybrids?

Development? I have heard it said that when lakes are surrounded with crops and fields the run off is very nutrient rich. Kicks off the food chain. Now the lake is very surrounded with places like... Frisco and no longer is fields.

Lavon is the best lake in the area

I wish I knew honestly. I have theories but that is all. I think the water quality is no where near what it used to be with all the run off from surrounding areas, logs jamming up the elm fork and supposedly other creeks, too many sandies and water level fluctuations come to mind but I have no idea honestly.

I will fish lewisville for whites/hybrids but it is not my go to for crappie for sure
