Ranger Trailer Tongue Swing Pin

What would cause the pin in the swing away boat tongue to be trying to come out of the holder - it is up against the keeper pin?
I have had one of the pins snap into - Ranger dealer said not that uncommon ?

Donโt have answer for the dilemma. Always used a bolt and locking nut to prevent failure or theft.
