Had a chance to go out on Sunday for a few hours after a late lunch. The bite started a little slow but heated up pretty good. I was fishing in about 40ft in the Castle Canyon area of the lake. I was using Mr whiskers cheese bait and DK’s original, they were all eaters nothing net worthy.
I have not been out in a few months so It was nice to be able to set the hook and knock the rust off. I need to really start chunking some cut bait to see if that will increase the size of the fish.

Just Curious , What Punch Bait Produced More Kitties, The Danny Kings Or Mr. Whiskers ? Which One Do You Prefer And Why ? I Am Thinking About Trying Mr. Whiskers Because I Heard Mr. King Sold His Bait. Thank You For The Report.

In my opinion Danny King’s is the king I will say that I purchased Mr. Whiskers only because DK down sized there container size and Mr. Whiskers offers a bigger jar at a better price. I was going through so much product I needed a more affordable option. They both put them in the boat at a good rate but DK still edges out Mr. Whiskers. I will same Mr. Whiskers stay on the hook way better and you can catch multiple fish with the same bait.
You won’t go wrong either way but I have had some real epic days out on the water with Danny Kings blood flavor.

This past weekend was rough out on the water, at least for me and my partner. We went up the devil’s river and found water as warm as 64deg but no bites. In the castle canyon area water temp was around 56 and we’re were able to boat a few little one in about 35 feet. I hope the bite is on this coming weekend as would like to boat a few 20pounders if possible.

Hot tip everyone, word on the lake is that the kitties have already moved up into the shallows. It’s time to dust off those old slip cork rigs off and set out the jug lines. Good luck and stay safe.

In response to "Which Punch Bait catches the most Catfish?", I recently changed from DK's to Mr. Whiskers. I had used DK's for the past 15 years and caught limits almost every trip while guiding on Richland Chambers. After changing Owners from Wooded Acres Bait Shop on RC to a new Owner in Dallas, the Punch Bait was very runny, didn't stay on the hook as well as in the past and was difficult to fish with. I tried Mr. Whiskers "Blood" Cheese Punch Bait and quickly got sold on it! Less smelly, stays on the hook better, cost less, and caught as many or more than DK's! My Son who is my Guide Partner would fish with DK"s while I fished with Mr. Whiskers and results were the same without the mess. I'm now using both Mr. Whiskers Blood and Regular Cheese with similar results. Both catch Blues and Channels. I buy in the 2 Gallon Bucket and if you use the Coupon Code: GONEFISHIN15, you get a 15% discount. Check them out at www.whiskerseeker.com . I know it sounds like I'm bashing Danny Kings, but when I tried to call and give the Company feedback as well as get a better cost when they raised their costs, I never received a call back. I text and called several times and finally gave up. Mr. Whiskers was just the opposite as the Company is located in Alabama, but I received immediate attention, had my questions answered, got my orders immediately, and have used their bait all Fall/Winter with great results! I appreciate good Customer Service! ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/02/full-588-260366-20250201_124012.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/02/full-588-260368-20250102_102931.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/02/full-588-260369-20241223_123336.jpg)
