Completely different weather when the Elites were here. We were catching them on beds all of February last year all the way up to the event. You’ve got negative wind chills right now. I noticed. 70s starting on Monday. Mid-late next week could be fun.

Walked down to the dock a few minutes ago, it was very cold!! Came back to the house, now I'm in front of the fire, right where everyone else should be.

I'll be there the 22nd to the 28th and will probably do most of my fishing in the morning since the major period looks to be in the sunup to mid-morning range, then go again the last hour of daylight. Not sure I'd could on "Major periods" depending on what type of fishing you're doing. If you watch the Elite at Fork this time last year, they caught them all day. I'll be out there all day on the 27th. If fishing were my main reason for being there then I would definitely be on the water all day. My priority is spending some time with family I don't see nearly often enough and getting a bunch of work done around their place. Parents are pushing 80 and my dad's memory is going. I live on an absolutely beautiful river so I get plenty of time on the water at home (when winter rains don't have it blown out). It's just nice to scratch the old bass itch when I'm back there. Mornings are the best time to get some fishing in without cutting into time with the fam and, luckily enough, major period for that week coincides with that. My dad will probably join me in the evenings. Last time I was there he couldn't remember how to tie a Palomar, something he could do in the dark with his eyes closed a few short years ago. Things really do come full circle eventually. He used to tie my lures on and help me get my backlashes out. Now I get to repay the favor. Cherish the time you have with your loved ones, time really will fly by and those opportunities are gone before you know it.

Just throw a chatterbait and a trap and you should catch a few.

If you’ve ever been to Monticello when the weather was sub freezing, that’s what Fork looked like all morning.

Not on the water but beside it. Just had ~ 100 snow geese fly over. Riding this strong south wind back north. Winter hasn’t got much left.
