Basic case of "he said". At the end of the day, TPWD did there job and I'm glad they are checking the paper trail. He entered a fish without a license, and now a big pay price is involved which means a higher penalty. Unfortunately, he now needs a lawyer to clear this up.
I'm not mad for LEO doing their job. Yes, you have good cops and bad cops but they have to deal with scums and lies everyday. We’ve all seen it happen. After a period of time dealing with ferals at some point in Barney’s brain short circuits and everyone becomes a feral. Had one harassing the gravy maker a few weeks ago to the point of tears. Just because he could.

Sounds fairly reasonable. My thoughts also. I can barely keep up with 1 fishing license let alone over a dozen. True that, by the time you add permits and stamps and hunting my license is about six feet long. I think I'll go electronic next year.  The app will sync with the TPWD data base. If you download and register the free app now; it will display your current license(s) and expiration date(s)….it will also show previous license purchases going back to about 2010

The mailing of the paper license has become too unreliable……but I carry that with me also.

They can and will write you a ticket for not possessing it too if you are not enrolled in the newly electronic version.

I guess one positive is had this not happened he possibly would have fished Fork and Toledo Elite events without a license.

Just a witch hunt because hes a big name in the sport. Lost a lot of respect for TPWD on this. It's laughable. It will get dropped and just be another frivolous case they made up because some GW got talked into stretching a more serious charge in order to make a bigger name for himself and the organization. If the timeline is correct its damn near double jeopardy.
You know what TPWD should do a story on? They should do a story on why their Colonel is not the same one it used to be. Leave it to Barrett🤣. Good job! You should have let the mullets keep arguing. That’s right boys. The man in charge of such nonsense is no longer over TPWD LE.

If there’s no cell signal what happens? Had that happen to me….told the “fish police” to give me the wifi password to their truck and they said NO….and asked how I knew it had wifi….I said because I have one just like it, but unlike you, I paid for mine….and yours…now what’s tour password…. Got it and showed my licenses and went on my way….Mr Green Jeans wasn’t happy… I personally know this particular game warden and he’s a good guy, but this is a really BAD look for TPWD Personally, I wouldn’t donate any fish to their lunker program for several reasons…

There is zero chance of me ever handing a $1,000 phone to any of the game wardens I have encountered on Lake Conroe the last fifty years. They always approach like the are making a drug bust. I have never had a single violation.
