![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/02/full-65297-260002-bugler.jpg) this pic was taken in Arkansas and it's the inside of a rolling store that used to serve people living in the country....I vaguely recall them coming to the little community where i lived in east Tenn.....note the Bugler tobacco box on the shelf.....it was used for tobacco in "roll your own" cigarettes or you could smoke it in a pipe....Sir Walter Raleigh and Prince Albert were popular brands of tobacco that came in a can...Bull Durham was cheapest brand and it came in a little cloth sack....rumor has that it was mostly tobacco they swept up off the warehouse floor...roll your own cigarettes were popular during World War 11 due to shortage of packaged cigarettes....

I do. My grandad (Mom's father) rolled his own cigarettes for as long as I can remember, He didn't use Bugler but must have gone through hundreds of Prince Albert tins.

I remember the rolling stores, but that’s a really old memory. And we had bookmobiles. My grandma said she always got three books - a nonfiction, a detective novel, and a ‘lust’ novel.

My grandparents resided in the Arkansas Ouchitas and I saw remnants of one-One of their neighbors smoked Prince Albert tobacco and wrapped his pump house with the tins His nickname was Toad. He gave me a staple bait to fish the creeks with nothing but a Rebel humpback. Wore out green sunfish, bass(large and smallmouth),etc. So fun

Don't remember them, but Zig Zags were the papers of choice in my HS years.

How about the Laredo tobacco kit that Brown and Williamson put out in the early 70s. You loaded loose tobacco which you compacted with one lever and then you place a pre-rolled paper and a filter on the end and pushed another lever to stuff that into the paper. If done right, it looked much like a reg cigarette. Most of the folks I knew did not use cigarette tobacco in them! ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/02/full-23811-260060-laredo_rolling_machine.jpg)
