I realy like my new reel. It is the Quantum Saltwater Energy PTS.
It has a 7:1 gear ratio like the Curado 200DHSV, it also has an exxtra bearing at 7. It has the infinate cast control system on the side, which is a nice feature that the curado doesnt have. Plus, it is not as bulky, about the same size as the chronarch. However, it is made exclusively for saltwater. It is made with nitrogen which is supposed to hold up better. Everything is also closed off more than with the Curado.
For anybody that likes to throw lures and use lighter tackle this is a great reel to check out. I think it is way faster than the Curado/chronarch and it has held up in saltwater alot better for me. It is a bass style type reel made for the salt. Only drawbacks are the price at $250 and the spool is not very big. About the same size as the chronarch. However, slap on some braid and thats not a problem.

I have a quantum energy pt, and it has held up to the salt admirably. I also have a lews speedspool saltwater. I've never had to clean that thing yet, in about 18 months.

Mna you are brave to not clean a reel for a year even if it is saltwater made. My Curado 200dvhs is already starting to squeak, rust, and curode after about a year. I clean it everytime and it is suppossed to be salt resistant. I usually go through my reels in about a year before they have to be refurbished. I have four curados just sitting at home locked up and waiting to be sent off. Its just a pain. Im feeling good about the PTS though. Plus, I think it performs better.
