Go under the bridge.

I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us.

No doubt. There are lakes around with more timber but that one is near the top of the rebar list.

When running south of the bridge; the second cove on the left and the big cove on the right just north of the Italian restaurant have rebar that almost stretches out to the main channel (especially that second east cove from the bridge)

I know this as it mortally wounded my thick hdpe Hobie kayak. I thought I was free of the stump field and rebar as I was 30 yards from the creek channel. Then boom.

Be careful.

It truly does. Jerry The Animal McFadden roamed those woods!

Jeremiah 7:28 KJV

But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the Lord their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.

Galatians 4 : 16

Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

In some areas, particularly just South of the bridge, there were a LOT of trees that eventually rotted to the watter line. The deeper channel winds around some in that area. Someone(s) decided to mark the now hidden stumps by driving pieces of rebar into the stumps for purposes of flagging them, so they could drive the channel without hitting the dreaded stumps. Instead, we now run over stubs of residual rebar. There are other areas with rebar, particularly outside of private docks.

This is from memory as I haven't fished Hawkins in about seven years.

South of the bridge, and then north of the bridge.....there's some rebar in the very middle of the creek channel north of the bridge as the creek gets shallower.

And the gators... Rebar and gators and pickeral is all I remember.

Oh and two old black men going out night fishing in a little tiny john boat as we were coming in who I swear to god were speaking English but I could not understand but maybe every 7th word they said. I understood them to say "Crappie" and "minnows" the rest was just all some strange gibberish... and we talked for while lol.
