The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

Congrats on a trophy worth putting on your wall!! The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman I think it's just the opposite. You already know the basics: 1. finding fish 2. casting a set of lures that have the highest potential of getting hit The only difference between bass and crappie (panfish in general) are the size of lures crappie most often reject and lure types. ex. I wouldn't expect a crappie to hit a spinnerbait with or without trailer but I would a Beetlespin with smaller blade and soft plastic. ex. crappie do hit trolled crankbaits just like bass ex. T-rigged 7" plastic worms aren't struck off the bottom yet twitch a 6" Kut tail worm rigged on a 1/13 oz jig mid-depth and crappie go berserk clobbering it. In all in the presentation. Crappie and bass his finesse soft plastics and small fur or feather jigs equally well. With crappie it pays to slow down most of the time whereas bass have a greater lure speed range they hit. Catching all species of fish for the last 50 years has showed me this: match the lure to the fish and fish it in a way fish with strike it.Again, NICE HOG! what did you get it on? depth? presentation?

Nah.... You do make some good points though.... For me, starting to crappie fsh 90 percent of the year taught me more than I ever knew about bass.... This 7.34 lb fish was caught off of a bridge column in eight feet of water on an ultralight pro angler rod with a pflugar President reel, 6 pound Gama co. Polymer line, a 1/8 ounce mad crappie jigg's hatchet head and a bone head 2 and a 1/2 inch minnow in moondust color.

Every single 5+ lb largemouth bass I've ever caught was on accident while crappie fishing with live bait.
* Bad day crappie fishing so go cast net some bait * Throw a double-minnow rig down on a deep brush pile * 4 bass later, still no crappie lol

Isn't Texas state Black Bass record held by a man from Lake Fork that was crappie fishing ?? Not the target fish however, the angler was at the right place at the right time !!

Looks like FFS in the background, not asking to throw shade at your catch but for my own knowledge to catch one
Did you see her on the FFS and could tell it was a great big fish
Some people just like catching. I like fishing.

Ain't no shade...no I wasn't even looking at the live scope. It was pointing the opposite direction.

Crappie Guides call them green trash,...we caught 4-5 giants every year while crappie fishing. Broke rods and striped reels, and re-tie. Then ya gotta move off a perfectly good pile...sux !

It just proves what I already knew……there ain’t no telling what any fish will hit at any given time. I once caught a barely legal Kentucky bass that had a great big red crawfish in his belly, a shad in his gullet, and a gold crappie/perch hook in his tongue. And yet he hit my hellbender ! Back then, I had a house full of kids and we ate him and several of his siblings and friends…….
