Yup. Picked up two Falcon Lowriders for $49.99/piece. Also got a mountain of Zoom plastics and strike king cranks for like $40

It is difficult to use their website and look for bargains. They list great bargains under "clearance" but nothing is in stock. There is no way to filter out the out of stock items. I just looked at 10 rods or reels that I would consider buying. All of them were out of stock.

Our stuff will probably have some great deals on a live target spider and mouse top water- that’s about it

Those stores have basically ZERO inventory. Are they getting rid of fishing completely?

I figured they were doing a big reset out with the old in with the new.

It's so random between stores on what is on sale or clearance, and what is even in inventory

Don't have to worry about the Academy in Terrell having anything good for fishing clearance, I have more tackle in my garage than they have in the dang store with the exception of H2o brand. Most poorly stocked store that I have ever seen.

Shame, quite a few years ago they used to have a great fishing selection. Not so anymore. Guess more to be made selling clothes.

I've bought all kinds of stuff this round. They do this twice per year.

Make sure it's ringing up correctly. None of my clearance stuff rang up with the 50% off so we had to start it over.

Academy and Walmart have their pre-spring sales around this time every year. Walmart didn't really have alot but the Mesquite and Garland store had a decent amount of bass grear. For the clearance prices you have to go to the actual store. I'm loaded down to tackle so I just walked away with a lot shirts and hoodies.

You can get the same pricing online but it's hit or miss on availability. I bought 6 spools of Shimano Mastiff for $9/ea, usually $30 fluoro (too rich for my blood!)

Walmart’s clearance usually kicks into higher gear about two weeks after Academy does their 50% extra off the clearance price.

$156 later picked up some nessie for $4 cullshad for $5 cpl pks 6th sense ribbon tail worms for $1.48 Abu Garcia revo x 7.0 mh f for $75 reg $200 marked down to $149. Had to make up for last year where I stuck to my goal of buying no baits.

The Academy’s I’ve been in have on inventory. I asked one of the employees if they were going to stop selling fishing tackle. He said he wasn’t sure. They were not telling them why nothing was being sent in.

Ours had nothing of use, at any price, for sale in the clearance section. Total suck bomb.

Ours didn't have anything good on clearance but had a pile of new Falcon Lowriders in stock so that's a win.

I like that I have to drive 30-40 minutes to the nearest Academy. Saves me $$$

McKinney had Bill Lewis lures on Clearance. I managed several jerk baits (scope stick) and a Rayburn Red Rat-L-Trap. Also a spool of Abraisix 25lb. In total 8 or so lures and 200 yards of fluoro for <$60.

I was at Academy in Bossier City. They were putting out new stock but they moved like dripping water. In one spot. Then had to take a break.

The one in Lewisville had very little fishing stuff on the shelves the other day. I was after a rod sock for a new rod and there were 3 in the store that I could find. Lots of clearance stuff but nothing exciting...

Visited Grapevine today. They had about 20 bins on a rolling rack for baits. A lot of the store brand and a lot of the Berkley big swimbaits, but there was a small selection of Zoom, Strike King and Yamamoto. The only rods I saw were ProFISHiency. Just a heads up - I am 5'11 and I culd not see in the top bins. I reached in to a few but quit after I got a spinnerbait hook jab.

Some stores have some really good baits on clearance. I went to pick up one crankbait. Ended up hitting 2 different stores and spent $300. One store had lots of Spro baits on sale Little Johns, Rock Crawlers, DD-70s. Also, Rapala OG Slim, OG Rocco, Maverik jerkbaits and DTs. Another had a lot of War Eagle spinnerbaits and Berkely crankbaits. Some H20 squarebills, which are some of my favorites, for $1.38.

I probably came home with $900+ worth of baits at regular price. Bad news is that I didn't any of it. Ugh, I need to be on the lake fishing. Otherwise, I just buy stuff to compensate for not going.

Checked out the Tyler store….I have as much tackle in my boathouse and boat as this store has….NADA

I stopped in there a couple days ago. Man that place has dropped off. Don’t think I will return. Pitiful!

The Tyler store currently has the least amount of stock I have seen in the entire time they have been here.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the new Bass Pro opens soon. When Gander Mt. was in that location the ratio of cars in the parking lot was about 10 to 1 in Academy's favor.

I can't imagine Academy not stocking up to compete with the new kid on the block. It should be interesting to see what happens.

I stopped in there a couple of days ago myself and if I was looking for shoes or clothing on sale it would have been fine, but the fishing selection sucked.

Lake Pro Tackle in Gainesville FTW. Excellent selection and their online store is much improved.

Our Academy pulled about 80 % off the shelf and put on clearance a month or so ago. They have started re supplying with different stuff now. Lots of 6th sense items instead of all the Googan they were pushing. Its not just 6th sense though, its different than in years past. I am slightly pleased by this. The rod selection is trash, and they have doubled down on cheap combos. They should be competing since we have 3 academys, scheels, bass pro, and a cabelas within 20 miles

The Greenville store is the best stocked one I have seen in awhile. Stopped there the other day and was pleasantly surprised.

I stopped at the one in Longview on Monday and they didn’t have a single thing in the fishing department on clearance.

I have noticed at some of the DFW area Academys that some of the exact baits and exact colors that were on clearance a few days ago and now back on the shelves at regular price.

If I buy from Academy I order online. The stores have very little inventory.

Went to Cabelas looking for a crappie rod and stopped at the Plano store on the way back. They now have 75% off clearance and I filled a whole little hand basket to the top with Rapala Roccos, jerk baits, OG Slims, Chick Magnets, Senkos, KVD jerkbaits, Rattle Traps, etc. Most expensive things I bought were the Rapala jerkbaits at $3. Most of the Rapala stuff was $1.98-$2.48. Wish I could have bought it all but they had waaaaay to much left.

I will post a picture of my little basket overflowing here in a little bit. I really should have stayed out of that place but I havent bought tackle in a pretty good while so I dont feel to bad.

The Academy in my area usually has a nice variety of fishing tackle. They had a clearance sale about two weeks ago.

It was pretty much about 85% off regular price. First time I have seen quality baits discounted that much in years.

I was at Academy 2 days ago and the guys said they were about to mark the clearance stuff down to 75% off. That was after I had already bought a ton of stuff from a few other stores at the 50% off clearance price. Oh well, either way it's a heck of a deal on some good stuff.

Arlington academy had more than most. I spent 46 bucks yesterday on cranks, spinner baits and a few plastics and saved 100 bucks.

You never have to much tackle!

I got some of the shimano Fluor for 6bucks per 200 yd spool, never used it before, and a few packs of worms for 65 cents each. Really picked over, down to 1 small rack.
