 MK Ultrex....jacked up my shaft

Oh boy....looks expensive. I hit a metal cross beam under water and the main shaft cracked and bent up toward the top of the shaft. I'm sure I'm not the first one to do this..... What am I looking at? Is this repairable? Sickening way to start the new fishing year. Help?

Not hard to replace if you’re mechanically inclined. Plenty of YouTube videos out there.

No, your are not the first. The Ultrex shaft has a lifetime warranty, so any repair shop should replace it under warranty. Lake Fork Trolling Motors replaced mine.
The catch is that if water got into the broken shaft and down in the motor, any damage caused by the water is not covered by the warranty.

OH.....that's good to know JD....thanks. I feel confident no water got in because of where the break happened...so I might be ok!

When I gouged the shaft on my Ultrex, they replaced the entire shaft/motor assembly under the warranty. I would throw my motor over a cable at a power plant lake to hold my boat in the best spot. It was like a giant file grinding away a big notch in the shaft. It wasn’t even broke, or worn through to the point of allowing water in. Come to think of it…I can’t even remember why I took the thing into the shop in the first place. Nowadays, I just order the part, put it on myself, and get back in the water.

Steez you are correct, the shaft has a lifetime warranty, the rest of the unit has a 3 year warranty, so if your ultrex is less than three years old, the motor would be covered as well. Mine was over 3 years old, so only the shaft was covered by warranty.
