Never tried it, nor even heard of it. But I will admit that I cannot think of a single food offering that could not be improved by butter, so I'd give it a shot.

I think I'll leave that to the East Texicans and continue to eat my salsa and chips the correct way.

Lived on and off in East Texas all my life and have never heard of it. I have seen the squeeze bottles of fake butter on the table, but most people put it on hot tortillas.

That doesn't sound good at all.

Tortillas yes but not the salsa. The salsa is usually not hot enough as it is. Why dilute it?

My mom, not from East Texas she was born and raised in West Texas, is the only person I've ever seen do this, and I always thought it was weird.

More restaurants need bottles of liquid butter on each table, like ketchup. Never seen it before, but I’m suddenly a big fan.

Lived in Texas all my life and never heard of that. Go to a Mexican restaurant in Tyler/Longview/Kilgore area and sit down for 10 minutes - you will see it then.

I've eaten at Jalapeño Treen and another big Nexican restaurant in Tyler many times. I can't say I've ever noticed it. Will have to try and remember next time we go.

You’ll have to go to Papacita’s in Longview or Mercado’s in Tyler. The other restaurants I remember with squeeze butter at the table are closed down now.

My wife does this. She says it cuts the heat. She's wimpy when it comes to spicey. I eat it like ice cream. No butter for me.
