Buddy and I are planning our annual week-long trip. Going to be going in mid-March. The plan is to stay somewhere with several good bass lakes in the general vicinity. I always try and go to new lakes I haven't been to when I make these larger out-of-town runs. We have a few ideas, just curious what y'all would do. Open to suggestions!
Idea #1 Stay at a marina on Lake Fork and fish: -Fork (only been here one time when I was a kid, don't remember much at all) -Quitman -Winnsboro -Hawkins -Gilmer
Idea #2 Stay in Jefferson, TX and fish: -Lake O' the Pines -Caddo -Lone Star
Idea #3 Stay in the DFW area and fish whatever lakes we want, maybe make one run to Texoma or Possoum Kingdom while there
Idea #4 Stay in Tyler and fish: -Palestine -Tyler -Jacksonville -Athens (been here, could take it or leave it)

I would do #1 but would add Bob Sandlin to the list which is one of my favorites over any of the others listed.

I would look for a place to stay and play it by ear. Too much planning on this could hurt you. Water temp will be all over the place in East Texas. If it is still cool at all I go option 4, but finding a place could be very difficult. My favorite choice would be a VRBO on the river of Caddo, but the house would be expensive per night. This would give you a nice option during the rain, which likely will happen on a week long trip in March. The fork area is probably the easiest to find a place to stay and will be good if water temps are low to mid 60s

Are those little lakes in the Fork area that I listed all good bass lakes? I’m just going off what TPWD says, which all of them are supposed to be good to excellent

If we do Fork, most likely going to stay at Oak Ridge Marina. Haven’t heard much about the two Lake Tylers. I’m assuming they're good bass lakes.

I would do # 4 , from Tyler you could still drive up to Wood Co. to fish any of those lakes in # 2 and be closer to more lakes south and east.
Slide right, coming in .... Fish On!
