Anybody know how much it would cost to repower a 2012 BassCat with a 250 4-stroke engine? Current 250 Pro XS only has about 200 hours on it but I'm getting the itch for a 4-stroke. Does the 250 Pro XS haven any used/resale value?

You should be around $21-23k installed. Your engine should bring $5ish.

Thats a pretty expensive itch. Agree, is there anything wrong with your low hour 2-stroke? Its your money but if its not broke why fix it?

It was repowered less than two years ago cost right at $21k. But….my old motor, which was the boats second motor, broke the crankshaft right under the flywheel. It still ran perfectly, but would need a complete rebuild to replace the crank. So….i went with a new SHO. No regrets, other than the money. Haha. Those new 4S motors are a little slower. So I hear. The boat I’m gonna try to buy today has the new 4S mercury. I think my skeeter with its smaller SHO is faster. Haha.

I’ve been there and spent thousands replacing everything. From fuel lines, injectors, filters, to a gummed up ignition switch and complete wiring harness. But….afterwards it sure was nice and trouble free till the crank mysteriously snapped right at the flywheel with 400 hours.

Current engine is a 2012 as well. Someone said it is an expensive itch and your right. I don't have a spare $21-$23 lying around. There really is nothing wrong with my current engine, just really like riding in a boat with a quiet 4-stroke. A friend has one (but smaller 115) and it is really nice to be able to run down the lake and talk to each other.

A few more hours and you will have your 2 stroke broke in finally.
