The only time we have ever come close to divorce is over new TV technology and the junk drawer The toilet paper roll direction was a biggie early on, but we made it through. I avoided the toothpaste discussion by keeping a his/hers drawer with our own tube. Still baffles me how an otherwise smart woman can think toothpaste should be squeezed from the top, or tp should be rolled from the bottom.

COFF, I made a thread on that very same toothpaste issue about 15 years ago. I think it blew up and went about 17 or 18 pages
Apparently, you and I aren’t the only ones that have wives that don’t know how to keep the toothpaste lid clean

Who doesn't have one?
Old batteries, old keys nobody has any idea what they go to, a zillion paper clips, dried up ink pens, all the tools that your wife uses as a hammer.... That reminds me of that bit that Dane Cook did at Madison square garden. “ why the f*** do i have all these keys” classic. I have a large keychain that has a key for possibly every Master Lock padlock made since dinosaurs roamed the earth. My son counted the keys once and it was something like 85...

Not so much. We have some that look cram packed full but we know what's in there and it's all useful stuff. We ditch junk.

We have one but it is pretty under control as we moved into a new (to us) house about 5 years ago and cleaned out about every drawer we had at the time.
Now my in-laws house is another story. My mother in-law passed away last April, and my father in-law moved into a retirement home (he's 94) and he wants to clean out the house to sell it. The entire 2-story house (including a basement) and the garage is one huge junk drawer. We (wife and I) spent a week there trying to clean out the house. We filled 2 20-yard dumpsters and only got the garage and a small part of the basement done. We are thinking about another 4 20-yard dumpsters might do it. In one large drawer alone, I tossed hundreds of pens that were dried out as well as hundreds of match books. My father in-law was an insurance salesman for almost 50 years and back in the day EVERYONE had matchbooks with their agency names on them and every-time my father in-law went to an insurance convention he (actually my mother in-law) would pick-up all the matches and pens (and scratch pads but that was in another drawer) and put them in a drawer. Same with rulers, I threw out at least 20 12" rulers with insurance agency names on them.
And that is just the start.

I have a great way of cleaning ours out. When I am missing something that I think the wife or kids lost, I start yelling and cussing and jerk that drawer out of the cabinet and throw it in the living room upside down.
Sometimes I will find the item, like a pocketknife, in my truck where I left it later on.
But I do not confess this to them. I want them to think they lost it so they will not put my chit in that drawer.

I do the same thing at work, when a tool comes up missing I profile everyone that might have possibly walked through my area. Then when I find it where I left it I don’t tell anyone, I double down and throw an even bigger fit. There’s guys that will walk a 1/4 mile out of the way to keep from walking through my area lol.

I tried to go minimalist and swore off buying more stuff, I have failed. Is there a 12 step plan?
