Looking at a 2020 115 hp Mercury proxs 4 stroke with 300 hours. Know nothing about 4 strokes, Is that a lot of hours?

That’s about average. That motor should last 5-6 thousand hours if it’s maintained properly.

When I bought my boat four years ago, the Yamaha 150 4s had close to that. My mechanic said it is practically a brand new motor. Have a certified mechanic run a diagnostic report on it. It will tell how much time was spent running the motor at what speeds. My previous owner trolled a lot for stripers and half the hours showed that. Rarely ever it at WOT.
