If these companies would just make weighted crankbaits there would be no need to make them so large. With all the computerized technology in lures these days there is no excuse why they cant get them properly weighted to behave like a normal floating crankbait. Yes you would not be able to get the bait to back out of a snag like the floaters do but thats the price you pay for having a normal sized crankbait that can achieve what was once unthinkable. Its no different than having a weighed 2oz swimbait that can crawl along the bottom at 20'. Makes no sense why they dont want to offer weighted versions of crankbaits. I thought there was one on the market ~15 years ago. Basstar, I believe. I think it had dimples like a golf ball. The California guy designed it, Randy Mcabee. I might have my crankbaits confused but I thought it was a weighted deep diving crankbait.
