At least DFW is planning for growth.
There will be a time when San Antonio, Austin, and all the folks in the hill country will wish there was some preplanning done decades ago.

I can’t find anything where it says there are getting started with this lake. Found a article that said it would be pumping water by 2050

No, in San Antonio we are waaaaay more worried about not complying with ICE and having 1,239 road construction projects on every major roadway to think about water. Our solution is to tell people to just stop using water. That at least keeps the foundations companies in business, which leads back to the wanting to stay a "sanctuary" city..............

the way to make cities not sanctuary cities is to take their funding away.

It is bad. It seems that they are the only ones planning for growth. I know I am repeating myself, but it is still true. The Houston area continues to boom and yet, nothing gets done in the way of new water supplies. The last body of water around here was built 50 years ago. And Gibbons Creek is privately owned along with Fairfield.

Oh yay another N. Tx lake...just what we needed! We didn't have near enough up there already. Meanwhile down here in southeast Houston, all I have is Sheldon and the mud hole of Lake Houston. And here yall are complaining about another lake lol I have to drive a minimum of an hour to get to a good bass lake (Conroe). I've got the boat to chase trout and reds down here on the bay but it's just not my cup of tea. Much prefer my bass fishing

The last thing I saw; and I can't remember who published it, Marvin Nichols was off the table. The powers that be were teeing up the lake that will back up to the Cooper Lake Dam instead. I'm in a couple of groups that follow or are fighting against Marvin Nichols and that is probably where I saw this, about 6 months ago.

Was tabled years ago while they searched for endangered newts, frogs and fruit bats. From what I'm seeing, it is becoming a push again. Dallas has exploded since it was tabled so I don't know that it will be pushed off again.

The DFW metroplex has doubled in population in the last dozen years. We will have to continue to find more sources of water to flush toilets around here.

DFW will run out of water in 15 to 20 years. And your [censored] politicians keep bragging about bringing in another fortune 500 business here to the metromess. FYI it took 50 years to get to where Ralph Hall is currently at, which is to open in 2 or 3 years. Texas has got to put in desalination plants along the coast. Water will be very expensive to the point where you won't want to live in Texas.

Water will be very expensive to the point where you won't want to live in Texas. Dallas has to get serious about water usage for everyone in the city. Quit watering the streets and sidewalks, plant drought resistant plants that don't require a lot of water to live, quit putting waterparks in subdivisions, start water restrictions on watering your yard (all year), the list can go on and on..... Once they do this and are serious about it, get back to me and perhaps I'll listen to your water needs....
