I just did 60 cast in a row with no backlashes using one hand in my yard I was using a lews laser xts with 15 lb big game mono I don't know why people are scared of baitcasters they are more accurate and fun and if you practice u will get good. I could have done more but I had to stop to do something .

There's someone on here that has a signature that I can relate to. It says "I can backlash toilet paper"..

I remember that but its been a few years since I've seen it and don't remember who it was.

Let me not know how that works standing on a boat in 20 mpw I'm more impressed how fast you can pick out the backlash.

Lol yes there was no wind but I thought it was impressive anyway because if there is wind all you have to do is tighten the tension spool and put your brakes on high and thumb the spool right and stop it before it hits the water

I backlashed a Metanium DC so bad I had to cut it out, had just spooled it up with Seagar abrasx.

So much about casting is in the rod matching the lure weight/size.
Having a light bait with a rod that is too stiff will get a lot of over run, having a rod with too much whip can cause a ratsnest if the bait stops moving.

I backlash will happen, just learn to pick them out. In fact, I got one Monday becuase I did not adjust the brake when I changed lures.

What is a backlash? Are we talking about professional overruns here or what is this?

Professional overruns can be fixed without issue, anger, and curse words on the water. Backlash, aka birdsnest is when it's so damn hosed the line is buried into itself and even a surgeon couldn't fix it without cutting it off the spool.
