I watch Ty catch those monster fish and I wonder why those ponds he fish are never filled with stunted fish. He catches alot of monster crappie/bass/catfish in ponds that you would think would never have enough food to support them. One pond he fishes has some nice size hybrids in it and that pond can't be more than 5 acres.

No but sounds interesting. One thing I would bet money on is that he is NOT fishing waters open to the public. Public access = small fish and generally non-managed waters.

When fishing is restricted and waters managed , monsters are often present.

Does this 12.5 lb/27 inch LMB from one of my ponds qualify?

Or how about this 13 inch+ copper nose?

Good deal. I have heard a lot about east Texas waters and fished a guided trip o. Tawakoni, lots of fun. When I was a kid, ponds was all we had to fish most of the time.

33 lb catfish caught from a public pond in Frisco on a crawdad. This particular pond/lake is filled with bluegill, bass and catfish. It also boasts a healthy supply of crawdads that my boys like to catch at night. We have caught our share of bass on the crawdads, but this was our first cat. Most cats were caught on cut bluegill.

What amazes me about the above story is not the 33-pound catfish even though that is impressive, but that there are any other fish left in that pond.

It is really a good size pond with a LOT of bluegill in it. It does surprisingly boast a healthy population of bass. What is even better is that it gets chocked full of hydrilla and discourages the novice fisherman. So the pressure is not that high on it. I can only assume this fish was dumped in this lake as only channel cats were ever stocked in it. This is the 2nd largest fish I have seen in this lake. Found a dead blue cat years before bigger than this one. I have personally caught cats here up to 15 lbs on cut bluegill.

When I was in college in Western Ok, back in the mid 70's, we fished many soil conservation lakes in float tubes. Permission was easy to
obtain back then. I can only remember being turned down once , and that was a new, privately built lake. I suspect it is very different these days.

Good luck
