There's a tad bit of technique in it that just following a recipe. You need to know when a pan is ready to sear versus sauté versus simmer. AHAAHHAHAH

Once you learn to cook from a recipe and get a few basic principles down you start freelancing stuff. It annoys my wife that I can work without a recipe but I have a tad bit more kitchen time than most.

I absolutely love to cook and while my wife is an excellent cook, she doesn't enjoy it. I cook pretty much everything except baking. I also smoke, grill, and Bbq. I have a dedicated smokehouse to make/smoke bacon, sausage and all types of charcuterie.

I always thought about building a smoke house.

My wife doesn't cook much. I knew that when we got married, sort of like she knew how much I fish.

My mother worked full time and we lived with my grandparents. Mamaw thought me at a young age how to sew, do laundry, and basic cooking.

There is a single women that lives a few houses down. She invited us over for a get together once, with a few other neighbors.

We tried coordinating what to bring for food. She said she doesn't cook, and when she said that, she meant it literally, like she does zero cooking. I guess she gets carry out and goes out for every meal.

One time we went over, and she had a pile of jimmy john sandwiches to offer. haha. everyone is different.
