The carb would load up and it wanted to stumble. But….stick it to the floor and you better be serious about whatcha doing. Haha.

Of the choices I picked the 70 Chevelle. I’m assuming it was a LS7 car.

My favorite of the older vettes. A lot of folks don't like that split rear window, but I really like it.

I had a 65 442 for a LONG time. My favorite car I’ve ever had. Of course I pulled the 400’and out a Joe Mondello built 540 Olds. It was based off of a 70 Toronado 455 with a billet crank. It was bored a QUARTER INCH over and used Chevy pistons. 11:1. Mondello cam. Edelbrock RPM heads, 5.0’Ford aluminum roller rockers, custom push rods….and hours and hours of porting and polishing.

It was a Hardtop and was turquoise with a black top. Looked very original but it had all Hotchkis suspension and four wheel disc brakes.

It ran 10.20 & around 130mph in the 1/4.

Man. I really miss that car.

My senior year in H.S. (and the first two years of college) I had a '69 El Camino SS with a 396 cu.in. 425 H.P.. Holley (S.P.?) 650 double pump carb, Hurst close ratio 4 speed, headers, glass packs, Air shocks. I had to keep weight in the back to keep the wheel hop down. Nice car!

Which I had it now. By my junior year, I could not afford the maintenance or gas for that matter. I sold it to a guy and a week later he totaled it running into a guard rail on a turn. It went real fast but was not good on tight turns at speed.

I think the 396 was a much better motor that the 454 it sure didn’t over heat like the 454 did

I've seen several 454 overheat and ghost during trips with car clubs. We even had a truck with supplies and carried water / anti-freeze for them. AHAHAHHA

wasn't the Cleveland a big block 351 and the Windsor was the small block.

The Cleveland was better for racing since it would breath better than the windsor. and it was a big block and could be bored out to even bigger CI and would produce more HP
