No the are the white bass running yet always come first and then the crappie spawn questions start to roll in.

Which means........ crappie are spawning in Feb if you're fishing Falcon, Choke Canyon or Lake Mathis. But probably not if you're fishing Lake Meredith or Alan Henry. Location and definition of "spawning" are the keys to the question. Far too many variables to say what month crappie spawn. After chasing them for over 50 yrs, I know one thing: crappie spawn when they're ready.

To me, the better question is when do they go shallow/go to the banks? I believe that is what most people are referring to when asking about the 'spawn'...
