I would like some input on where Crappie are found on Lake Ray Roberts in late January. Today I fished on several brush piles in 25 feet of water and it seemed like they were all on vacation.

I will try the deep brush piles near the dam, I fished the timber in around 25 feet of water give or take about a month ago and nothing there either, I see these boys on YouTube fishing in these creeks, catching them this time of year, I would like to know how deep of water they are in and how far from the main lake body. I guess if there is shad there, then the fish will be there too..

Shad are the key whether in the creeks or deeper water in the lake. I'm guessing water temp at RR is about mid 40s. If so, 25ft may not be deep enough. Fishing Waco with temp at 50, fish were 37-39 ft deep and right on the bottom. That was 50 before this last long cold spell. Definitely lower temp now.

CAT did a tourney on RR in Feb of 17 because somebody wanted a tough tournament and Paul Obier said go to Roberts in Feb if you want a tough lake! I remember it was brutal! We fished a couple deep piles by the dam and caught some fish, but I wouldn't want to go back!
