i think the one at the bottom might be a blue fish Blue runner, I believe--fun to catch, but not nearly as big as a blue fish.

3rd pic = Bluefish (good food) After a second look, I think you're right. Blue runners have a bony ridge running down the sides of their tail ends.

The original trout pic was moved, so it doesn't match the blurb underneath it, and I have no idea where it was caught! The other 2 are a baby jack cravelle and a bluefish, both caught at packery channel. The blues are off and on there, at the moment. They are good fun to catch on light tackle, but they are toothy on leaders, and they chew up soft plastics. Slab spoons with fast retrieves get the hardest hits. Obviously great fun on a fly, too! Anyone can post the days catch here. They don't have to be big fish - anything goes. I just like pics of fish! Fishist started the original thread (54 pages!), which got deleted.

Perch fishing with my nine year old and I hooked this one up on 4lb test line and a #12 hook. Amazing as he was barely hooked and put up a decent fight. Didn't even know our small pond had this species. Sorry the pic quality blows. Tilapia We caught 15 fish each mostly perch and a two of these but nothing else was even close to the size of this one. FUN!

YAY pictures! Nice bass, and perchies. I caught some speckled trout on a roadrunner last week!! Anyway, went out to the harbor wall for an hour before work, caught about a dozen trouties, and a few ladyfish. One of those ladyfish was HUGE! Biggest I've ever hooked into. It ran 40-50 yards, jumped, and popped the hook. I swear (fishermans tale!) it was getting close to 2 1/2 foot long. A guy and his 2 sons came wandering along, and I had caught 2 trout as they were coming, all very sadated, and they stopped to talk; right at that moment I hit a big ladyfish, and we got 4 great jumps out of it! Smiles all round for everyone. At one point this morning, they were attacking the soft plastics as soon as they were hitting the water. The ferocity was tearing the soft plastics away from the jig head, to the back of the hook, so it was just a squished-up plastic, and THEY WERE STILL HITTING IT! I kid you not... All the trout were just slot, or slightly under. There was an older fella further up, and he had a nice stringer of 6 or 7, from 17" to 21". There was another guy who was catching absolutely nothing You can see both of them further up the wall.. Here's a trout... I didn't get a pic of a ladyfish, as I was waiting for a big one, but all the big ones threw the hook on me! I must be rusty!

Nice catch, good pictures and good story. That chartreuse jig head seems to work well this time of year. Is that a 4 or 5" plastic?

5" bass assassins. It didn't matter what color I threw, it got hit. I had a pocket with 9 chewed up lures in it! They tore them up, big time. I had 2 get torn off the hook. Looking around in the water, besides the obvious perch, minnows and mullet, there was a lot of nice shrimp around.

actually, they're standard 4 inchers... I had a problem with 1 packet of the bass assassins - they would spin. A problem i have had a fair few times with that manufacturer. Obviously, I thought it was the way I was putting them on.. When I looked at the lure, it had a convex dint in the side of it's head. This was causing it to spin, no matter how i rigged it. Solution was to bite about 2cm off, and re-hook it, and it worked how it was sposed to! I found some lures almost identical to the bass assassins last week, called 'riverside'. I wasn't familiar with them, but as i said, they're pretty much identical, except they about a dollar cheaper, and you get 10 instead of 8. I bought 3 different packets of them, and they work fine. http://www.riversidelures.com/Their catalogue link takes you to another website, that doesn't have any of their products listed, lol. Shame.

WOW!!! What a beautiful pic of the pier. Reminds me of the pier my Dad used to take me out on in Huron, Ohio when I was a little guy. Of course we weren't catching those salty monsters, just yellow perch, channel cats, bullheads, and the occasional walleye.
