Did a quick search and nothing popped. My son just bought some property near Lake Aquilla. Curious if any of the folks on here fish it regularly (or at all) and reviews.

There's a serious high spot/hump in the middle of open water, if lake is low make sure to avoid it. south of island. I would idle the lake before running it, might take an hour, not saying its dangerous but its pretty small. great fishing

it's got some big fish in it but I would rate the lake average at best. banks are pretty bare and shallow. very good crappie lake

WAS a good crappie lake. There are some nice ones but you have to wade through a bunch of small's. Also the White Bass are starting to take over. Say you fish a brushpile, catch a few crappie, then you aill start catching small whites. Then they really come in. Gotta leave and go find another brushpile. TP&W did put about 30 new underwater structures out very recently.
Life journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved state. But rather skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy carp what a ride!"

Aquilla is a blast!ā¦ā¦35 years ago! You've got that right. My parents had a place on Whitney when Aquilla first opened. It was great being a hidden gem for quite a while. Then Barry Stokes made a show where he slayed some fish there. Then a BassNGal had a phenomenal tournament with a giant bag of fish and all of a sudden it was a zoo. One of my favorite memories was a time when it rained so much one spring that we had to launch my boat in the parking lot heading to the ramp. We had to be very careful that day to not hit anything but me and my brother literally sit in one spot up against a bank and caught 100 fish throwing RatLTraps without ever moving.

Aquila was a Great Lake in the mid to late eightes to early nineties . Had several spots you could catch 50 to 100 bass at times. I never fished hackberry creek much always muddy but Aquila arm was lot cleaner as was the lower end. Iād like to try it again but worried about some meth trash breaking into my truck or stealing a cats off my truck.
I got all day Iām retired
