The two freakishly large birds I've seen in my life were both outside san angelo. One was an owl and one was some prehistoric carry your child off thingy mcjigger. Pretty sure there is a nuclear waste dump or some sort of interdimensional time warp in the area.

At 1 time I hunted and fished on Caddo Lake fairly often. Nothing like the sound of a Great Horned owl in the swamp.

Used to see them on the light poles at carswell. Lots of good hunting ground between the runways. Some were huge!

Saw a big 'en driving around the Smoky Mtns last week... We I first spotted him I knew it wasn't a hawk, way too big... I've always wanted to build an Owl Box but I never seem to have the time... Dan

I hunted a place near Brownwood that had tons of them. You would hear twenty of them hooting back and forth in the evening. I had one try to steal a turkey I shot.

We have a big barred owl living out back. He’s been here a couple of years. We call him Ollie

I feel lucky because every now and then an owl shows up for awhile in the trees around here, but my favorite bird call is the Mourning Dove

Got a couple here in the hood that hoot at each other. Hear them pretty regular at night in late fall till about this time frame, then nada till the following year.

I watched a barred owl take a young raccoon off a bird feeder. Very impressive. I've also seen barred owls take 2 adult cats -- they had no problem with either cat.
